RDA SoftNet · Work as or with your IT department

Working with RDA

An outsourced IT department, or the assigned part of your hybrid team. Enterprise-level support, service and attention, with the responsibilities connected to your organization.

Enterprise-level support, service and attention

A large organization has an IT department with different roles: leadership, business applications, development, infrastructure, support, security and continuity. A smaller organization needs those responsibilities carried too, even when it does not need a full-time specialist for every role.

RDA brings those roles together as an outsourced IT department. In a hybrid arrangement, we work with your internal team and carry the roles assigned to us. The level of care, coordination and attention follows the responsibility we accept.

Your organization retains authority over policy, priorities, funding and approvals. We keep the work, decisions and next actions connected to those responsibilities.

Different ways to arrange IT support

These arrangements can overlap. The useful comparison is who carries each responsibility, how the work is coordinated and what happens when a person or provider is unavailable.

Internal IT person with vendor support

An internal person handles technology alongside other duties or as a dedicated role, calling software, hardware or service vendors when help is needed. The organization still needs a plan for tasks outside that person's experience, time away and continuity when the person leaves.

Break-fix or maintenance company

A provider repairs a problem or performs identified maintenance. This can be useful for a defined task. The organization needs to understand who carries planning, applications, security, documentation, vendor coordination and the work between visits.

MSP or MSSP

A managed service provider or managed security service provider delivers ongoing services under an agreement. The responsibilities can vary widely. Identify the services covered, who follows through on findings and who connects that work to applications, business processes, budgets and other providers.

Outsourced IT department

This is RDA's role. We bring together the responsibilities of an IT department: leadership and planning, daily support, applications, development and integration, infrastructure, cybersecurity, vendors, documentation and continuity. Those roles remain connected even when they do not require a separate full-time person for each specialty.

Internal IT department

The organization employs its own IT team and directs the department's work. Outside help may add specialist knowledge, project capacity or coverage. In a hybrid arrangement, RDA supports the departmental roles assigned to us while the internal team carries its own responsibilities.

Software or hardware vendor

A product vendor brings expertise in its own application, equipment or service. That relationship is important, but someone must coordinate the product with the surrounding environment, users, other vendors and the organization's operating requirements.

Development

A development team builds or modifies software, integrations and automation. The work needs requirements, testing, release control, documentation and an owner for the result. RDA connects development to the applications, infrastructure and ongoing support that keep it useful.

The roles stay connected

This is how the large-company comparison applies to RDA. The working arrangement identifies the systems, responsibilities and resources involved, with an owner for the work that crosses between teams.

A working relationship with responsibilities on both sides

We need management involvement, usable information, appropriate access and a way to authorize decisions. Together we identify a practical baseline for supported systems, security, recovery, documentation and ongoing maintenance.

Where gaps exist, we identify urgent conditions, agree on interim safeguards where appropriate and plan the remaining work around priorities and resources. An unexpected need starts a conversation about what is required and how to carry it through.

Service records and reviews connect the work to the responsible service area, project or department. They should help everyone see what changed, what remains open and which decision comes next.
